Emotionally Blocked or Overwhelmed
Not really knowing what we feel, or feeling numb, makes navigating life and relating with others difficult and confusing. We are often unsuccessful in expressing and bringing across what we mean, let alone what we need. We may also find it awkward to respond empathetically to others, and instead we go blank or become overly rational.
On the other hand, when we get overwhelmed by a flood of emotions, then we also face considerable issues: Communication gets difficult or impossible, and we may either withdraw or act out, because we don’t know what else to do in this moment.
The good news is that feeling your emotions and safely experiencing them is your healthy, natural state, and it can be practiced.
